Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation
Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation was established in 1946 through a bequest from Dr. John E. Mason Jr. (Pennsylvania 1913), the spiritual founder of Lambda Chi Alpha.
Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation offers a variety of awards to assist our chapters and colonies, undergraduate members and alumni members.
Academic and study abroad scholarships are offered on an annual basis to award academic excellence and financial need.
The Foundation also offers assistance for undergraduate members to attend leadership training, such as the Stead Leadership Seminar and the High Alpha Summit.
The Educational Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of distinguished alumni brothers. The Educational Foundation’s Professional Staff is led by Dan Hartmann (Truman State 2007) as President and CEO.

Complete this application to be considered for available academic scholarship awards. Applicants will be considered for all awards for which they meet the eligibility criteria. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: current undergraduate member in good standing (including financial status) and minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale.
James Chirurg Scholarship (All Undergraduates)
This scholarship was established by James Chirurg, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Funds are granted for academic scholarships to benefit current undergraduate members of Lambda Chi Alpha. Eligibility: Current undergraduate members in good standing who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need.
James R. Favor Scholarship (All Undergraduates)
This scholarship was established in memory of James R. Favor, a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and recipient of the George W. Spasyk Order of Interfraternity Service award. Funds are granted for academic scholarships to benefit current undergraduate members of Lambda Chi Alpha. Eligibility: Current undergraduate members in good standing who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need.
Henry Lee Schuck Scholarship (All Undergraduates)
This scholarship was established by Henry Lee Schuck, University of Nevada-Las Vegas, a former Educational Foundation scholarship recipient. Funds are granted for academic scholarships to benefit current undergraduate members of Lambda Chi Alpha. Eligibility: Current undergraduate members in good standing who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need.
Warren E. Dupwe Scholarship – Arkansas State University (Iota-Theta)
This endowment fund was established in honor of Warren E. Dupwe, Arkansas State University. Funds are granted for educational conferences and academic scholarships to benefit undergraduate members of Iota-Theta at Arkansas State University. Eligibility: Current undergraduate members of Iota-Theta Zeta in good standing enrolled full-time at Arkansas State University who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need.
Kirk and Nancy Pond Scholarship – University of Arkansas (Gamma-Chi)
This scholarship is endowed by the generous gifts of Kirk Pond, University of Arkansas, and his wife Nancy Pond. Funds are granted for academic scholarships to benefit sophomore members of Gamma-Chi Zeta at the University of Arkansas. Eligibility: Current sophomore members of Gamma-Chi Zeta in good standing enrolled full-time at the University of Arkansas who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need. Award recipients are guaranteed the same amount of support ($2,000) for each of the two subsequent school years provided they remain enrolled full-time and in good standing with their chapter.
A. Barry Cappello Scholarship (California Colleges and Universities)
This endowed fund is named in honor of A. Barry Cappello, University of California-Los Angeles. Funds are granted for academic scholarships to benefit undergraduate members enrolled at California schools. Eligibility: Current undergraduate members in good standing enrolled full-time at a college or university located in California who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need.
Epsilon-Mu Zeta Scholarship – University of Florida (Epsilon-Mu)
Eligibility: Current undergraduate members of Epsilon-Mu Zeta in good standing enrolled full-time at the University of Florida who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need.
Sigma-Upsilon Zeta Scholarship – Appalachian State University (Sigma-Upsilon)
Eligibility: Current undergraduate members of Sigma-Upsilon Zeta in good standing enrolled full-time at Appalachian State University who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need.
Grace "Mom" Cheuvront Memorial Scholarship – Oklahoma City University (Theta-Delta)
This fund was established in honor of Grace "Mom" Cheuvront, who served as the Theta-Delta Zeta house mother for twenty years. Funds are granted for academic scholarships and leadership and educational programs to benefit undergraduate members of Theta-Delta at Oklahoma City University. Eligibility: Current undergraduate members of Theta-Delta Zeta in good standing enrolled full-time at Oklahoma City University who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need.
James and Patricia Bernal Scholarship (Tennessee Colleges and Universities)
This endowment fund was established by James Bernal, University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and his wife Patricia Bernal. Funds are granted for academic scholarships to benefit undergraduate members of enrolled full-time at colleges and universities in Tennessee. Eligibility: Current undergraduate members in good standing enrolled full-time at a college or university located in Tennessee who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need.
Jeffrey Steele Lambda Chi Alpha Scholarship – University of Washington (Alpha-Psi)
This endowment fund was established by Dr. Jeffrey Steele, University of Washington. Funds are granted for academic scholarships and leadership and educational programs to benefit undergraduate members of Alpha-Psi at the University of Washington. Eligibility: Current undergraduate members of Alpha-Psi Zeta in good standing enrolled full-time at the University of Washington who have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale and demonstrate chapter, campus, or community involvement as well as financial need.

Brothers with demonstrated financial need due to a qualified disaster* may receive direct funds for essential needs: food, shelter, medical needs, and employment-critical transportation. Grants are available for up to $500 based on the applicant’s unique situation. Grants CANNOT be used to pay for member dues.
If you are facing financial hardship, please apply for emergency aid through the Anchor Fund by completing an application. The Grants Committee will review applications as they are received and award grants on an individual basis based on the situation of the applicant.
*Members must have been impacted by a qualified disaster as defined by the US Internal Revenue Code (IRC). A qualified disaster is defined by section 139(c) of the IRC as:
- a disaster which results from a terroristic or military action (as defined in section 692(c)(2)),
- a federally declared disaster (as defined by section 165(i)(5)(A)),
- a disaster which results from an accident involving a common carrier, or from any other event, which is determined by the Secretary to be of a catastrophic nature, or
- with respect to amounts described in subsection (b)(4), a disaster which is determined by an applicable Federal, State, or local authority (as determined by the Secretary) to warrant assistance from the Federal, State, or local government or agency or instrumentality thereof.
Additional requirements must be met to be eligible for a disaster relief grant:
- You must be a current member (Associate Member, Collegiate Brother, or Alumnus) in good standing
- You must have demonstrated good faith to explore other funding options (insurance, free or low-cost services, other student aid, etc.).
Priority will go to current students (Associate Members and Collegiate Brothers) and Alumni Brothers who have graduated within the past ten years and have never received an Anchor Fund award.

Complete this application to be considered for scholarship from Lambda Chi Alpha for study abroad opportunities through your home university. The scholarship is expected to be $1,000 to $4,000 per awardee. Expenses can include, but are not restricted to, a) travel expenses to and from a foreign country related to an international study abroad program or experience; b) tuition and fees connected with being enrolled and admitted to study at an accredited college or university in a country outside of the United States and Canada; and/or c) room and board while studying in a foreign country. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: current undergraduate member in good standing (including financial status) with a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated financial need.
